Transportation Museum

In September, Dad took the kids to the Transportation Museum in Salisbury, NC. They learned about numerous cars, buses and trains. Sullivan was in hog heaven. Carrigan enjoyed it too, although you wouldn't think so looking at the picture she took with Dad.

First Day of School - 2009

Here are some pictures of the kids' first day of school. Carrigan started a week before Sullivan. Carrigan is wearing the white shirt on her first day. Sullivan is in the striped shirt on his first day. They love school. Hopefully they will feel that way in 12 years.

Visit with Monroes - On the Farm

These are pictures taken when we traveled to Asheville, NC to visit our dear friends, Carol and Norm Monroe (from Winter Park, FL). It was a short visit - 24 hours - but we had such a wondeful time on this beautiful farm belonging to a friend of Carol and Norm's. The kids gathered eggs in the hen house, fed the horses, went swimming and explored. We loved it.

Summer Vacation

The kids' first trip to Disney World, Universal and Sea World! We had a wonderful time visiting the parks and many of our Orlando friends. On the way down to Florida, we had lunch with Holland Mickle and her grandmother, Etta Mixon, in beautiful Barnwell, SC. When in Orlando, we stayed three nights with our dear friend (and Holland's mom), Jill Mickle. Then we invaded another friend's house - Carol and Norm Monroe - for three more nights. We were able to visit with many others - Phil and Linda Roach and the wonderful folks at Florida Citrus Sports. We were happy to see so many people who remain very special to us.

Carrigan's 3rd Birthday

Carrigan's big day! The best present was having so many family members share the day with us. Attendees: Su-Su, Ta-Ta, LaLee, Uncle David, Uncle Scott, Aunt Stacey and Ella.

Uncle David's Surprise

In May, LaLee, Uncle David, Uncle Scott, Aunt Stacey and Baby Ella came for a visit!! We had a wonderful time and were so happy to have them here. While they were here, we surprised Uncle David with an early 40th birthday present . . . Richard Petty's Driving Experience. Sullivan's wish came true . . . a race car driver in the family.

Baptism at Gussettville

In early March we travelled to Texas for cousin Ella's baptism at St. Joseph's Church in Gussettville. Ella (Uncle Scott and Aunt Stacey's baby) was baptized with her two infant cousins, Adalyn and Nate. Gussettville is very special to us because family members buried at Gussettville cemetery go back eight generations. (Sullivan and Carrigan's great-great-great-great-great grandfather and grandmother, and their descendants, are buried there.)

We stayed in George West at LaLee's house only a short time, but we were able to see Uncle David and meet Ms. Pamela and her son, Stevan. We also saw Pops and Uncle John and spent time with our cousins, Augie and Grayson - and their parents, Guy and Libby and grandparents, Ms. Maugie and Big Jim. And - Aunt Dot stayed with us one night!

Christmas 2008

For Christmas this year, Mom and the kids flew to Texas in mid-December and Dad drove out to meet us. We spent a wonderful Christmas with our Texas family and started our drive back to NC on December 26. Uncle Brandon and Aunt Sunny welcomed us into their Georgia home for one night and one night Su-Su and Ta-Ta hosted us in Greenville, SC. We had so much fun.
